Day 6: Marv the Raccoon
It feels like it's been a productive day today; getting the title screen and most of the other screens connected together makes it start to feel like a real game:
I've decided to commit to the neo-noir premise is that the protagonist Marv has just been released from prison (where he was sentenced for illegally impersonating a mime) and is now on the process of self-(re)discovery.
The game screen HUD is also close to being done now as well:
(Note that a real raccoon has now replaced James the placeholder human)
The backlog is tentatively starting to look tractable as well:
The optimistic schedule for tomorrow is to (in order):
- Add music and SFX in early to let them decant (1 hour)
- Finish the programming; the main bits are the tutorial and a few endgame scenarios (3 hours)
- Spend the remaining time finetuning and polishing
It doesn't look like the end result is going to be particularly roguelike but I'm optimistic there are enough mechanism and parameters to tune to make an interesting game at least.
