Day 5: You Found a Big Diamond
An annoying consequence of reaching clarity on an idea is that the concrete tasks required to realise said idea becomes dauntingly apparent (and numerous).
That said, the technicalities involved in accomplishing all of those tasks are all fairly well understood now. I'm hoping (although it's not going to happen) to get most of it done and then spend the whole day on Sunday finetuning the gameplay. Already I know that's wildly unrealistic, so I'm fully expecting to be taking liberal use of the definition of '7 days' and work into the early hours of Monday.
I feel like I've been relatively focused in the hours I could spend today though. I managed to:
- Do a second iteration on the title screen
- Implement job opportunities and trinkets (finetuning them is another matter)
- Crystallise and implement most of what I want to do for the GUI
(I still need to fix up the leaderboard code and add in the weather forecast)
Some typical raccoon trinkets.
Apart from that, the major strands of work remaining are:
- Polishing off art assets and title screen
- Endgame flow
- Hooking up the overall game flow
- Remaining music and SFX
- Copy
- Finetuning
- Tutorial/Onboarding
Fingers crossed tomorrow goes well!
